Walking the streets of the old town of Lijiang is like stepping into a different world. The streets are hand paved, the houses are small but beautiful, and even if much of it is a recreation, enough of the old still remains that you can envision yourself in the past. The town seems to be built on waterways, and everywhere you walk you can hear the sound of the mountain stream beneath your feet.
